Diesel-electric submarines to be tracked by unmanned marine vessels

Diesel-electric submarines are difficult to track as they are virtually silent and can stay submerged for extended periods of time. As the Defence Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) attempts to counter this imposing threat through the Anti-Submarine Warfare Continuous Trail Unmanned Vessel (ACTUV) project, multiple companies have received design contracts for the proposed vessel as the initial phases of the project get underway.

Northern Lights Energy commits to purchase 1,000 AMP electric vehicles

AMP Holding Inc., a company engaged in the emission-free electrification of OEM vehicles, announced it has signed a letter of intent (LOI) with Northern Lights Energy (NLE) to introduce all-electric SUVs to Iceland as part of its national electric vehicle (EV) project. Under terms of the letter of intent, subject to various conditions described below, NLE committed to purchase 1,000 all-electric SUVs from AMP over a five-year period.

European battery project SOMABAT begins

The SOMABAT (SOlid MAterials for high power Li polymer BATteries) project is a recent venture that aims to produce working prototype lithium polymer batteries for use in commercial electric vehicles. Various parameters will be explored by a European research conglomerate consisting of 13 partners with the primary goals set to decrease environmental impact, increase stability and enhance performance.

Aircraft will soon be able to save fuel while significantly reducing airport noise thanks to a fuel cell-powered electric nose wheel. After three years of development at the German Aerospace Center (Deutsches Zentrum für Luft- und Raumfahrt; DLR), the system is now ready for preliminary testing with the DLR A320 ATRA (Advanced Testing and Research Aircraft), a modified Airbus A320.
