For the first time, an electric car is the overall winner at an internationally recognised motorsport event, the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in Colorado, USA.
25 seconds faster than any other car on the final day, the Drive eO PP03 is powered by six YASA-400 axial flux electric motors producing over 1000 kW of peak power and peak torque of 2160 Nm from a 50kWh lithium-ion battery pack. Tipping the scales at 1,150kg (2,535lbs) thanks to a steel tube spaceframe chassis wrapped in carbon fibre, its power to weight ratio is an amazing 1.2hp/kg.
The PP03 was designed and built by Drive eO and is a full electric, direct drive lightweight race car built especially for the event. Drive eO chose YASA lightweight high torque and power density motors to reduce the weight of the car whilst maintaining winning performance.
The PP03 was driven by the experienced race winner and record holder Rhys Millen who said after qualifying in 1st place: "There is so much more in the car... the car is faster than I am. It's the first time in 22 years I've said that".

Pikes Peak International Hill Climb is one of the oldest motor racing events in the United States of America. The race is run on a twenty-kilometre (12.42 mile) course with 156 turns that begins at 2,862 metre (9,390 feet) elevation and finishes at the 4,301 metre (14,100 feet) summit of the Pikes Peak mountain in Colorado Springs, USA.
