Ballard & ABB Receive Approval for High-Power Fuel Cell Concept

The high-power fuel cell unit is a flexible solution that will support the energy needs of multi-megawatt scale vessels with diverse use cases. For example, a cruise vessel operating in coastal areas could either run entirely on zero-emission fuel cell power or switch to it when operating in environmentally sensitive areas or emission control zones, while a ferry with a regular schedule and frequent bunkering opportunities could operate solely on fuel cell power.

Full-Scale Offshore Charging Station for Vessels at Offshore Wind Farm

Maersk Supply Service, a part of A.P. Moller-Maersk, is launching its offshore vessel-charging venture, Stillstrom, to support the decarbonisation of the maritime industry by eliminating idle emissions. Together with Ørsted, Stillstrom will demonstrate the world's first full-scale offshore charging station for vessels at an offshore wind farm, scheduled for installation later this year.

Candela Secures €24M Investment for Foiling Vessels

Flying on computer-guided underwater wings -- known as hydrofoils -- that reduce energy consumption by 80% compared to conventional planing craft, Candela's vessels soar above the waves in silence with 2-3 times longer endurance than the best conventional electric powerboats.
