Covid-19 has increased the scrutiny on supply chains for many products, including Li-ion batteries, where discussion from raw material extraction to reliance on Chinese manufacturing has been prevalent for several years. The EU and US are increasing efforts to ensure transport electrification doesn't result in loss of jobs or industry and that access to materials and components can be ensured. Recycling could provide a valuable secondary source of key raw materials, mitigating against potential supply bottlenecks in addition to improving the circularity and sustainability of Li-ion batteries. Irrespective of motivation, huge volumes of Li-ion batteries are expected to come onto the market and they will have to be dealt with appropriately once they reach end-of-life.
This webinar will provide an introduction to Li-ion recycling with Dr Alex Holland, Technology Analyst at IDTechEx, covering the following key areas:
- Overview of recycling processes
- Discussion of the value proposition of recycling
- Analysis of 2nd-life vs recycling
- Look at the current Li-ion recycling market
This webinar shares some of the research from the brand new IDTechEx report, "Li-ion Battery Recycling: 2020-2040".
We will be holding exactly the same webinar three times in one day. Please register for the session most convenient for you.
