Whilst electrification of the passenger car market attracts many of the headlines, commercial vehicle markets, spanning delivery vans, medium-duty trucks, heavy-duty trucks, and buses are also evolving at pace. The reality is that to limit the impact of climate change and to protect the health of populations in congested urban environments there must be a rapid and almost total decarbonisation of all forms of on-road transport. Although electric vehicles come at premium over traditional ICE vehicles, in the commercial vehicle sphere, the greater appreciation of total cost of ownership over upfront cost will be a considerable boon to EV uptake, with fleet operators increasingly identifying that electric commercial vehicles can offer their businesses a cost advantage whilst delivering on emission reduction targets.
