With over 100 million electric vehicles (EVs) expected to reach end-of-life over the next two decades, IDTechEx's latest report predicts that the value of critical materials recovered annually by 2045 will surpass US$100B.

The growth of the EV market has slowed significantly in Europe and the US in the first half of 2024. A key route to reinvigorating growth will be the release of models in a more affordable price range. To this end, there are many avenues to reduce the cost of an EV.
