IDTechEx finds that the total market for printed, flexible and organic electronics in 2018 is $31.6 Billion. This is based on new research conducted by IDTechEx for the report Flexible, Printed and Organic Electronics 2019-2029.

In this article, IDTechEx describe the emerging dynamic between the different QD approaches for displays: edge optic, film-type, color filter type, and on-chip- type. We will examine how, and when, these technologies are likely to commercially rise and fall.

The need for flexible, transparent, ultrahigh performance, and low-cost barriers has long held back the promise of many flexible devices. Indeed, for long, it appeared as the grand challenge, and a potential showstopper.

In this article, IDTechEx Research will focus on some of the key frontiers of short-, medium-, and long-term change in quantum dot films. In particular, we will argue that the transition away from Cd based QDs will soon be complete; we will show how QD material improvements are translating into total cost reductions and how that is reshaping the market's pricing strategies; and finally we will consider whether film type QDs can continue their supreme reign, or whether relentless innovation soon render them obsolete.

The term machine vision describes a group of technologies that enable a machine to see via imaging for the purpose of process automation, and often refers to industrial vision systems. Applications of machine vision include automated product inspection and vision guided robotics. Here we consider four technology types: illuminating, sensing, processing and learning.

This article sets out to show that the assumption that QDs are a stagnant technology would be very wrong, demonstrating that QDs have now entered a time of growth, and crucially, rapid technological change.

In this article we analyse quantum dots in displays focusing on integration methods, innovation opportunities, and technology road-mapping. We focus on edge-optic, enhancement film, colour filter, on chip and emissive type QD displays.
