Quantum materials are excellent narrowband emitters. As such, most application discussions have focused on display and lighting applications where it can expand color gamut, efficiency, CRI and other parameters.

Quantum dots (QDs) are often billed as the ultimate, or at least as the next generation of, phosphors. The main driver often is the QDs' ability to act as ultra-narrowband downconverters, resulting in extremely wide color gamut displays and efficient and high CRI solid state LED lights.

Thermoelectric energy harvesting is a failure when set against the publicity of participants over the last 30 years. "The roaring mountain gave forth a mouse". Current versions do not scale above kW and are rarely used above mW - serious because the market for energy harvesting above 1W is about 100 times the value market below.
