Mitsubishi taxi rollout in Japan 2011

In January 2011, it has just been announced that an electric taxi based on the successful Mitsubishi i-MiEV pure electric car would be available commercially in 2011.

Japan-headquartered Toshiba is to supply lithium ion batteries the new Minicab i-MiEV electric vehicle, which is due to go on sale in the second half of 2011, local press reports said.

Following the release last year of the i-MiEV, the new taxi version is due to go on sale for a low cost of around $24,450, which will be supported by government subsidies. The new IDTechEx report Electric Buses and Taxis 2011-2021 details eight other taxi projects as well (US, UK, Europe, China, Japan) and gives ten year forecasts and full analysis of the technical and marketing situation for both hybrid and pure electric taxis and buses worldwide.

A unique event looking at the whole picture Electric Vehicles - Land Sea Airincluding taxis and buses, will take place in Stuttgart Germany June 27-28 as a two day conference and exhibition.

Optional Masterclasses and visits to local centres of excellence in the subject are offered on the day before and the day after this event. There will be an investment session and an awards dinner.
