Advances in Fiber Laser Technologies Presented at the IDTechEx Show!

The IDTechEx Show! presents a new masterclass on the existing and emerging applications of fiber laser technologies on Friday 13th April, at the Estrel Convention Center in Berlin. Information was gathered by attending technical industry meetings, touring R&D facilities, interviewing industry experts, and examining annual reports and peer-reviewed publications. This class provides a discussion of the findings from our expert-led primary and secondary research. The speaker's professional background is in laser physics and materials physics research.

The class begins with an introduction to the relevant technical content, outlining the properties and operating principles of fiber lasers, which are based on an optical fiber. Associated advantages and challenges are also explained. Next, applications of fiber lasers are explored, with the primary focus being materials processing in automotive and aerospace industries. Emerging applications in sensing (e.g., LiDAR and gas detection) and life sciences (e.g., kidney stone ablation) are also addressed, in addition to enabling technologies such as robotics for process automation. Finally, an overview of the big players (e.g., IPG Photonics), innovative SMEs and laser system integration services are provided.

The IDTechEx Show! will host over 200 exhibitors, 250 speakers and 2,500 attendees in Berlin on 11th-12th April with masterclasses, including Advances in Fiber Laser Technologies, on 10th and 13th April. The event presents the latest innovations in the fields of 3D Printing, Electric Vehicles, Energy Storage, Graphene & 2D Materials, Internet of Things, Off Grid Energy Independence, Printed Electronics, Sensors and Wearable. Combining these topics together at one event with co-located conference tracks and a combined exhibition brings together emerging technologies developers with their customers, leveraging the large overlap between these topics. Fiber lasers are relevant to several of the conference tracks covering emerging technologies: electric vehicles, energy storage (batteries), 3D printing and medical/healthcare.
